Meeting Miss Prim and Proper Jemima left her house to wander the small town. She was scrubbed, brushed, dressed, and even smelled proper. Her father was the owner of the bank, and she was supposedly supposed to be the most well-brought-up girl in the West. Her mother was from back East, and her father was raised there as well, so she was well-mannered, very sweet, and extraordinarily beautiful. Jemima headed down the street towards the general store. Her father had given her a nickel to buy candy for herself, and the present was well-accepted, as her father never really thought about giving her things. Though he loved her, he was always too busy with work, and her mother was also busy making her proper to love her as much as she could. Jemima stopped by the general store to take a sip of water from the pump outside. Pouncival walked down the streets, smiling and tipping his wide-brimmed hat at everyone he saw. He was taking a short break from his ranch-hand duties. Taking the red bandana from around his neck, he wiped his face, leaving a smudge across his furry cheek. After tying the bandana around his neck, he headed for the general store and saw the beautiful queen standing there. "Howdy, Miss Jemima." Jemima smiled and blushed a bit at the handsome kittom. "Hello, Mr. Pouncival," she said softly, blushing a sweet pink beneath her pink bonnet. Pouncival tilted his hat back and grinned at Jemima. "Certainly is a purty day," he said with a Western twang. "And you're lookin' right purty too. Goin' anywheres special?" Jemima smiled and blushed again. "Uh huh," she said, nodding. "My father gave me some money to buy candy. Would you like to come with me?" Pouncival smiled at the blushing queen. "Twould be my pleasure, miss." He stuck out his arm in a gentlemanly fashion. Jemima smiled and took it. "Thank you." Jemima headed into the general store. She smiled at the kindly store owner. She selected her candy and paid, then skipped outside, pushing her bonnet off her head and sitting down on a nearby swing to eat it. ***** >^..^< ***** (OOC: I wasnt able to get the posts in time before they disappeared. Sufficed to say, Jemima offered Pouncival some candy and he accepted it, albeit, a bit surprised. Pouncival basically said that Jemima was lucky to be the daughter of the banker, with enough money to buy nice things and Jemima said that her dad was too busy for her and wished he would show her that he loved her more. Pouncival said love was nice, but he said it would be nice to have more than two bits to rub together.) Jemima nodded slowly, her eyes on the ground. "Well, yeah, sure, money helps, but... what is money without someone to love you?" She looked up sadly at Pouncival. She moved closer and gave him a tight hug. "I'd give up all the money in the world if it meant I had somebody who loved me." Pouncival returned the hug. He had admired her from a distance ever since she had arrived in town, but knew that he was not in her league. He sighed and pulled himself away from her. "Miss Jemima, don't misunderstand me, but I have to go." He stood and started to walked away. He hated to leave her like that, but he didn't want to encourage her. "Oh, Jem, I love you," he whispered to the wind. Jemima watched him go, not hearing the words from him she so needed. Teazer streamed down her cheeks. She sat all by herself on the step of the store and watched him go away. She began to cry softly, feeling even more lonely than she ever had. ***** >^..^< *****
Sassy looked at her in a rather hurt way. "I'm here," she said. "But I need to leave soon. I have to feed the cows." Sassy lived on a ranch. Bomb groaned again. "Then I won't have anyone to talk to!" Sassy shrugged. "Sorry." Then she got off her stool and left. Bomb groaned yet again and began hitting her head on the counter. Teazer looked up from where she stood with Jerrie "What ya doing that for Bomb?" She said giving her a funny look. "I am so bored," she replied stopping for a moment to talk to Teazer. "I never thought that I would be this bored working at a saloon." She then continued to bang her head on the counter. Eventually Bomb stopped banging her head on the counter because she had a headache. She looked around in hopes that a cat had come to the saloon. Bomb sighed. As far as she could see, no one else had come to the bar. She was bored. "Sometimes I wish I had a different job," she muttered. | |
